Alan P. Brauer, M.D.
Dr. Brauer is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry and a Diplomate of the American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine. Additionally, he has Certifications in Psychopharmacology and in Addictionology. The Founder and first Director of Stanford University's Biofeedback and Stress Reduction Clinic, he is currently Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Stanford in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. At Stanford he has been teaching Introduction to Psychiatry courses to medical students for 16 years. He is also an active member of the Medical Staff at Stanford Medical Center.
A well-known expert in the field of stress control, anti aging medicine, and a pioneer in the use of biofeedback, Dr. Brauer has hosted his own television show on health issues, and has been an invited guest on more than 250 television and radio programs in the U.S. and other countries. He has been the subject of many international newspaper and magazine reports.
Dr. Brauer is an internationally published author, with his ESO book series on enhancing relationships having sold almost a million copies worldwide He has conducted numerous seminars on subjects of stress management, relationship improvement, aging, and expanding human potential. Within the scientific community, he has often lectured to professional groups and has written articles on the treatment of stress disorders and the mind's effect on health, and has been a past Contributing Editor of several publications.
Dr. Brauer obtained his M.D. at the University of Michigan, served a Medical Internship at New York University Medical Center, and did his psychiatric residency training at Stanford University. After being awarded a 1 year Fellowship from the National Institute of Mental Health, he founded and directed Brauer TotalCare Medical Center, one of the first holistic multidisciplinary medical centers in the U.S. He is a member of more than ten professional organizations, including serving on the Advisory Boards of the Non Profit organizations, Society for Orthomolecular Health Medicine. & Silicon Valley Health Institute.
